born 28th april,1928, died 6 june 1962.born in france. there has been argument over the classification of his art, some say neo-dada, some say artforum and some see him as post modernist, i kind of thibk it doesnt really matter that much, and i would really see him a a concerpt artist, becauise thats what he comes under oin wikipedia.h

the picture below, showing the back of a person with all the veins , interested me in particular as my protection project has lead on to looking at anatomy.it is named homeostatis.it is amde of coloured beads, as are many of her works, including the kitchen peices(below). she does this to almost an obsessive degree, using thousands of beads to make each peice.this began when she did a peice in durban, south africa, whre she covered a wire fence, like that was used in the concentration camps of the area,in beads. when asked why, one of the 20 zulu women who helped her, said each bead was like an addonment of beauty. they were adding beauty to an object with so many neggative connotations.each bead was seen as a blessing or forgivness.this lead on to be a reoccuring theme in her work. liza past is dark and tainted, with storys of domestic abuse which seem to apear in her work.i dont know for sure, but the beads seem to relate to his need, almost obsessive, for her to forgive and move on.homeostatis, to get back to my point, is made up of red and clear beads, showing the pattern of the movement of blood.he stands beside a small hole in the wall of he gallery which he apears to be looking through.the proportions are absed on the death row cubicles at san quentin jail.the room ahead is empty, lit well by a strip light and contains faceas stained curtains, soiled cement flooring and danling threads from the ceiling, all covered in beads.it seems to be as though it represents her own jail, from what i heave read, but i havent seen it and all the information is opinion based.

lisa lou is a sculptor who works with asthetics and concept. she likes to teke traditional styles and use modern tecniques to create her strange sculptures. she has a ver feminine one to her work, ofte focusing on females roles in society, as is seen in a series of works wgere she makes big sculptures of the kitchen, making a point about the fact that in america, her home and birthplace, women are often put into the role of homekeeper. in one work she showed images based on the view out f a kitchen window, as she noticed the fact that whilst all these women were washing up, this would be what they would spend their time looking at.

he won an award from the whitechapel art gallery in 1991,first prize from the liverpool john moores university in 1993 and in 1994 he was nominated for the turner prize, although he did not win.he served as a trustie from 1995 to 2000 in the tate gallery.

he set up studio in trinidad and tobego in 2002, where he works to this day.

pater doig was born here, in sunny edinburgh, in 1959.whemn he was about 3 years old he moved to trunidad where his dad worked for a shipping company.in 1966 he moved to canada,presumably with his family. he then went away to london to study art at the wimbeldon school of arts in 1979.

peter, being a very strange fellow, has gone under a few false names, im not sure why. these include- pierre, pedro and piotr, all names similar to his own.

hhis art is mainly landscapes which he usually paints from photos. he paints with strange angles and colours and so his pictures have a very strang, surreal feel to them.
